Order files stretched well into July at many framing lumber mills, and prices rose accordingly. Sales slowed for some producers who had pushed shipment times into mid-July last week. But those finishing up June and selling into early July posted strong sales and hiked prices.
While seasonal demand was the primary driver, supply-side issues also factored into the market. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price posted a second straight double-digit gain, rising to $342.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel markets were soft. Following a seven-week period during which the OSB Composite Price gained $22, prices flattened. Many mills had extended order files into July, but loads were available for shipment sooner at some plants. Southern Pine rated sheathing prices gave way to downward pressure amid lackadaisical demand. Loads were readily available for shipment next week at the mills. Western Fir plywood sales were sporadic in an overall uneventful week.
