UK: Coniferous Standing Sales Price

Coniferous standing sales prices in Great Britain were 5.2 per cent lower in real terms in the year to March 2004, compared with the previous year. This continues the downward path in coniferous standing sales prices, but is a markedly less steep decline than in the year to March 2003, when prices were 24.8% lower in real terms, compared with the previous year. Amazon Forest Lost Second Highest Ever

The area of the Amazon deforested during the 2002-2003 period is reported as the second highest ever recorded in history by Brazil's National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the ITTO Market Report said. Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Okoumé Plywood

The European Commission imposed anti-dumping duties on Okoumé plywood from China. CEP Demands Saw Log Guidelines

Ontario's largest forestry union is demanding that the Ontario government implement guidelines covering the use of logs harvested from provincial forests. Currently companies can determine on their own which trees are "saw logs" and which can be taken directly from the forest for chipping and shipping to pulp mills.
