German hardwood log export: Chinese demand for beech on the rise

According to German Federal Statistics Office, exports of oak logs went down from 87,300 m3 in the first 4 months of 2006 to 65,500 m3 for the same period in 2007. Exports of beech logs for the same period rose from 275,000 m3 last year to 340,700 m3 this year.
